Jarretaderas

The name Jarretaderas comes from a word used to describe the vines or lianas that ancient inhabitants used to tie constructions and tools. This small ejido lived for generations from fishing, agriculture, and harvesting natural resources from the area.

With the tourist development of Nuevo Vallarta in the 80s and 90s, Jarretaderas transformed. Original ejido members negotiated land sales, and what were once crop fields became housing developments. Many descendants of founding families now work in the tourism and hotel sector.

Jarretaderas' strategic location, minutes from the airport with direct access to Nuevo Vallarta beaches, made it an attractive option for those working in the tourism industry but seeking more accessible prices. Developments here offer the same quality of life as Nuevo Vallarta at a fraction of the cost.

Today, Jarretaderas is a mix of local residents, tourism workers, and foreigners who discovered the value of living near the sea without paying beachfront prices. The community maintains its neighborhood essence, with local shops, authentic taco stands, and the bustle of everyday Mexican life.
