Versalles

Before Versalles became Puerto Vallarta's 'it' foodie neighborhood, this was mango country. Families would spend their afternoons in these orchards, picking sun-warmed fruit long before the first condo towers and tasting menus appeared on the scene.

As the city grew north of downtown, Versalles emerged as a middle-class residential neighborhood: low houses, quiet streets and kids playing just off the main avenue. Today, those same streets are lined with new condo buildings, boutique hotels and creative restaurants, turning the area into one of Vallarta's highest-appreciation zones.

Its name is no accident. Versalles is laid out like a tiny European city, with a grid of streets named after places like Viena, Niza, Lisboa and Francia. That European wink blends with everything that makes Mexico delicious: corner taco stands, seafood joints, raicilla bars and cafés where the barista knows your name and your order. It's no surprise Versalles made Time Out's 2022 list of the world's coolest neighborhoods.

Just a few blocks away, Los Mangos Library acts as the cultural heart for Versalles and its surroundings. Since 1996 it has offered books, workshops, art exhibits, bazaars and community events, all under the shade of the mango trees that gave it its name.
